How to Install the Tricentis Tosca Chrome Extension for XBrowser Engine 3.0

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the installation, ensure the following:

  • Google Chrome is already installed on your machine.
  • You are using Tricentis Tosca version 12.3 or above to take advantage of the extension.

Note: Due to a policy change by Google, only extensions for Tosca version 12.3 and upwards will be available on the Chrome Web Store. If you’re using an older version of Tosca, you will need to install the extension manually (for instructions, refer to our guide on installing without the Chrome Store).


Step 1: Select Your Tosca Version

Select the version of Tricentis Tosca you’re using from the list below to ensure you download the correct extension:

Once you know your Tosca version, follow the steps below to install the corresponding extension.


Step 2: Install the Tosca Extension from the Chrome Web Store

  1. Open Google Chrome on your machine.
  2. Navigate to the Chrome Web Store:
    • You can find the extension by searching for “Tricentis Tosca” in the Chrome Web Store or by clicking the link provided for your version.
  3. Click the “Add to Chrome” button.
  4. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm the installation.
  5. Click “Add Extension” to confirm the installation.

Step 3: Enable Access to File URLs

Once the extension is installed, you need to enable certain permissions for it to function correctly:

  1. In Chrome, click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of your browser window.
  2. Go to More Tools > Extensions.
  3. In the Extensions page, locate the Tosca Extension and click on the Details button.
  4. Scroll down and check the option labeled Allow access to file URLs.

Step 4: Configure WebSocket Server (Optional)

If you need to modify the WebSocket Server port, you can do so via the extension settings:

  1. Open the Tosca Extension Options by clicking the Tosca icon next to the address bar.
  2. In the settings menu, find the option to change the WebSocket Server port.
  3. Important: If you change this port, you must also update the corresponding setting in the Tricentis.Automation.RelayService.exe.config file. For more details, refer to the relevant documentation.

Step 5: Confirm Installation

To verify that the Tosca Chrome Extension has been installed successfully:

  1. Click the Tosca icon next to the Chrome address bar.
  2. If the extension is installed and working correctly, you should see a message: “Automation Possible!”. This indicates that the extension has been successfully integrated.

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter issues during installation, make sure that your Chrome version is up to date and that you are using a compatible version of Tosca.
